Visa Information

All foreign nationals, apart from Indians, need a visa to enter Nepal. You can purchase a tourist visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in, Kathmandu. Other possible arrival points include:

Kakarbhitta

Birgunj

Belhiya

Nepalgunj

Dhangadi

Mahendranagar

Kodari

Visa fees at arrival points: US$25 for stays of up to 15 days,  US$40 for up to 30 days, and  US$100 for up to 90 days.

Cheques and credit card payments are not accepted and you will need to provide two passport photos to be granted your visa. There is a currency exchange and photo booth at Tribhuvan International Airport near the visa on arrival desks. You can also apply for a visa at your local Nepalese Embassy. Nationals of the following countries are not allowed a visa on arrival. They must apply for a tourist visa through Nepalese Embassies:

Nigeria

Ghana

Zimbabwe

Swaziland

Cameroon

Somalia

Liberia

Ethiopia

Iraq

Palestine

Afghanistan

You can extend your tourist visa for a total of 120 days. An extra 30 days may be granted on reasonable grounds. Over the course of one visa year, a tourist cannot stay in Nepal for more than 150 days. You can apply for an extension from the Department of Immigration and Pokhara Immigration Office.
