My son and I did the circuit of Manaslu last September, in accommodation in tea house. The new guesthouse “Larkya base” was open, and new guest rooms were being built in different villages along the way. So camping is not necessary. The owners of the guesthouses ask the central government to get rid of the designation “restricted area” of Manaslu, which is expensive in permits ($ 70 / week). L.N. Treks in Pokhara helped us get permits (Deepak, intreks@hotmail.com, + 977-61-466153), and were very helpful in general.
